ॐ श्री धन्वन्तरये नमः
Om Shree Dhanvantre Namaha
Salutations to the being and power of the Celestial Physician, Lord Dhanvantare.
Lord Dhanvantri is the Hindu god of medicinal herbs, healing, and curing. He is also known as the god of Ayurveda. He popularized the concept of Ayurveda and its practice in this world. Ayurveda is a system of medicine and health care that originated in India. The name is derived from ayur, meaning life or longevity, and veda, meaning knowledge or wisdom.
In the Hindu tradition, Dhanvantari is regarded as an avatar of Vishnu. He emerges as a celestial physician and as a god of Ayurvedic medicine. He is depicted with four hands, holding several objects such as a pot full of amrita (rejuvenating nectar). After Dhanvantri was born from the ocean of milk, he was carrying this pot of this highly sought-after liquid. The amrita was to be taken by demons, but Lord Vishnu emerged as Mohini to snatch up the elixir and share it with the celestials only.
