The Fifth Chakra, or the Vishudda Chakra, is the chakra of communication and purification. It is located at the throat and is represented by the ether. The Fifth Chakra is responsible for our ability to communicate our thoughts and feelings, as well as our ability to express ourselves. When this chakra is in balance, we are able to express ourselves clearly and confidently. We are also able to listen to others and hear their truth. When the Fifth Chakra is out of balance, we may have trouble communicating our needs or we may find ourselves feeling like we are not being heard. We may also have a hard time speaking our truth. We may feel like we are not being heard or we may find ourselves holding back our true feelings.
The avatars of Vishnu had a gem associated with the Fifth Chakra that was found in between the heart and throat chakra called the Kaustubha Gem. It was a power that would make whatever was spoken come into reality. Few others would also be given this gift by those who held spiritual power, such as Sadguru, Jagad Guru, or Maha Siddha. A student granted this ability would have to demonstrate their honesty in order not to misuse the Gem. There is no mantra to activate this power; however, it does not mean we cannot strive towards a more open and integrated Fifth Chakra. We can live our lives with intention and attention, and by cultivating certain qualities and practices, we can bring about more balance in our Fifth Chakra. The key is to live our lives with more authenticity, love, and compassion. When we do this, we open ourselves up to a more abundant and fulfilling life experience.
